Community

At Church of the Ascension, community is at the heart of who we are. We strive to be a welcoming, intergenerational congregation where people of all backgrounds, identities, and life experiences can find connection, purpose, and belonging. Whether through worship, outreach, learning, or fellowship, we believe that faith is lived out in relationship — with one another, with our neighbourhood, and with the wider world.

We use a consensus model of decision-making to guide our governance, rooted in mutual respect, prayerful listening, and shared responsibility. This collaborative approach reflects our commitment to valuing every voice and discerning together how the Spirit is leading us. The life of our parish is sustained by teams of dedicated parishioners who lead and serve in key areas of ministry—including worship, stewardship, pastoral care, Christian formation, hospitality, and music. By entrusting these vital aspects of our community to the gifts and leadership of lay members, we foster a church that is participatory, responsive, and grounded in the shared calling of all the baptized.
